FAQs

Will I need to be diagnosed to get treatment?

Not at all. Although I am able to diagnose, we want to steer clear of our participants feeling as if it is needed to receive Mental Health Care. Also, due to restrictions with my licensure, to be straight up, I’m not allowed to without the proper supervision. Just here to provide you with a service that will help support you through the treatment you deserve. Please note that if the practitioner develops any serious concerns regarding your current mental stability, referrals will be provided and strongly encouraged as needed.

Do you prescribe medication?

Nope, I don’t have the credentials to so. If a need for prescribed medication is warranted, referrals to appropriate entities and community resources will be made. Again, we do not want our participants to feel as though there is a correlation between mental health care and medication. Often times, we can work through various coping skills and techniques in an attempt to combat the need for medication. We promote healthy options through self-care and mindfulness but do not condemn the need for medication in specific or isolated cases as needed.

Do you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, not at this time. We take pride in not billing through insurance companies. StraightUp Counseling encourages participants to dictate and control their mental health care and treatment. To be straight up with you, insurance companies oversee health records, often mandate a diagnosis and may limit the number of therapy sessions which we do not want to interfere with your treatment.

Currently, we take private pay through acceptance of cash, credit/debit cards and other forms of electronic payment (IVY Pay, PayPal, Zelle (QuickPay), CashApp & Venmo). It is noted that in some cases, using your insurance will be a better option, please do so if this is the case; we promise not to take it personal. We want everyone to get the help they need with as little limitations and barriers as possible.

Let us help you find Mental Health Care easier and ensure that it is right for you.
